Holiday Flat in Northern Germany
Why not spend your holiday time in Northern Germany in my photography-area ?
The old estate
My parents have a little holiday flat in an old farm house, where primarily the lord of the manor
of this region lived (about 200 years ago).
The holiday flat is amid an old park with huge trees, a pond and a little creek, where the
kingfisher can still be observed.
From the window of the living room you can look directly into the park and watch birds or deers.
This park gives you the opportunity to take lots of photos of garden and park birds, like
Hawfinches, Great Tits, Blue Tits, Marsh Tits, Winter Wrens, European Nuthatches, Great Spotted Woodpeckers,
Tree Creepers, Blackbirds, Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs, Willow Warblers, Robins, Bramblings, Chaffinches,
Dippers (not every year), Kingfishers, Dun Crows, Dunnocks, Fieldfares, Garden Warblers, Goldfinches,
Greenfinches, Grey-lag Gooses (handsome), House Martins, Barn Swallows, Red-Backed Shrikes,
House Sparrows, Tree Sparrows, Herons, Jays, Kestrels, Tawny Owls, Mallards, Marsh Warblers,
Linnets, Pied Flycatchers (not every year), Ravens, Redstarts, Rooks, Spotted Flycatchers,
Starlings, Whinchats, Whitethroats, Yellowhammers, Wood pigeons and much much more.
For the best times for special birds, have a look at the Additional Info "Best Times" in
the left menu.
You can also photography insects and plants in the park. And of course you are allowed to place
your hide (tent) amid the park if you want.
To observe the Kingfisher there is a hide, that I made some years ago, of course you can use
it, too.
The entrance to our estate, the old gate lodge
Almost every year there are breeding kestrels and tawny owls in the gate lodge and house martins as well as Barn swallows.
There are several possibilities to take good photographs of them there too.
Near the gate lodge is a railroad embankment, were you can observe and photograph
Red-backed shrikes (normally 1 - 2 couples of them). Often there are breeding marsh warblers and
Whitethroats, too.
In the meadow next to the railroad embankment breed Grashopper Warbler and Whinchats, in some years
you can observe Corncrakes there too.
A little creek is the habitat of several mammals, birds, insects and plants.
A little creek is the habitat of a couple of kingfishers (almost every year), several insects, and plants. In some
years there are Green Sandpipers and Spotted Crakes, too (this year a cat killed one Spotted crake :-( ).
