I've tested the
Nikon Coolpix 5400 for about a week, and there's nothing much to say about
this camera. It's not suitable for
digiscoping.
The
Coolpix 5400 is vignetting over the whole zoom-range when combined to the
Swarovski 80HD Scope.
The pictures I shot through this camera (combined to the scope) were all very soft.
And there was much ISO-Noise in the pics (maybe caused by the very small 5MP CCD). So we have
to wait, what Nikon will release next. Hopefully a digiscoping-friendly camera again...
Nikon, please do us birders the favour :-)) !
Your earlier cameras were so fantastic for
digiscoping... Why not continue the swivel-design ??
Later Nikon announced the
Nikon Coolpix 8400, which was and is (2014) my favourite
digiscoping camera so far. You can get it used very cheap.
If you want to buy a camera like the
Nikon Coolpix 8400 for only about $50, a scope or just even other things, you can support me keeping this website online when you use
this link to Amazon and then buy your camera or anything else there :

Thank you for your help :-) !
